A 24-hours hackathon that almost killied me.

Yo Virg, want to join a hackathon?

“You handle marketing, I'll build the app."

That was my client, Vinod.

The guy is no lightweight.

He runs a team of over 100 people, guess what building apps.

On the side, he’s building his creator business.

We've been chatting about AI and launches for months.

If I can launch courses, why not an app?

It’s time to put my skills to the test.

And you know what…?

I’ll take you on the journey with us.

I’m not a big build-in public fan.

But I thought this is to cool not too share with you.

Vinod and I teamed up to create Snook (short for Snap and Cook).

An AI-powered app that transforms ingredients into complete recipes.

How on earth did you get that idea, Virgil?

You can’t validate and interview people in 24 hours.

So, the first step was to shortcut validation with the help of robots.

I went on Gummysearch.com. A tool that analyses Reddit convo’s.

I knew our audience (The ones who are crazy about food and apps) would hang out there.)

I dropped all my findings in Claude to analyse the data.

And there was the trend.

People were looking for a way to store recipes easily.

I quickly wrote an MVP build brief for Vinod so he could start.
(With the help of AI, because who am I to write a technical brief.)

And off we went.

Obstacles are part of every journey.

When shit started to hit the fan.
(I love that saying.)

We switched back to the ancient principles of building anything.

Focus on ONE problem for ONE person.

We quickly realized our approach wasn't working.

14 hours in, Vinod was questioning if the idea was viable at all.

That's when I suggested a pivot.

Instead of complex multi-step workflows, we simplified to a "Quick Recipe" concept.

Take a photo, get a recipe. Done.

This was the breakthrough moment.

The same launch Principles apply.

The principles that built my 7-figure course business worked perfectly for app development:

  • Simplify everything.
  • Validate before building.
  • Make a clean user experience.
  • Be ready to pivot when needed.

In a 24-hour sprint, we went from idea to working app.

It looks like shit.

But we have something that’s sort of working.

Now we're refining and will launch Snook in the next 3-4 weeks.

Why waste all the stress and never bring your project to market?

We might fail; It might not work.

That’s fine.

But what if it sticks….?

Because in these grueling 24 hours, we have learned so much.

The sky is the limit…

I’ll take you on this journey every step of the way.

Oh and have a look and take Snook for a spin.

Hit me up with feedback; that will help us a lot.

Now, I’m going back to business as usual.

And that is growing our Launch Agency and creating killer content to help you blow up your offers while launching an app in the evening hours.

I’ll keep you posted about this project

Power to you,

Virgil "Launches are cool" Brewster

P.S.

Are you sitting on an idea but not taking action?

It might help if we do the launch for you. Hit me up in the replies, and we'll have a chat.

Holy shit, this kid is on fire. That was my first thought when I saw what Jay Yang was up to.Rewind to January 2023.I was dipping my toes on Twitter. And there was this kid, Jay Yang. He wrote like a beast. Showed up every day. And I was paying attention to his every move. This kid had what we called a Midas touch for building an audience. He was 17 at the time. We became friends, talked shit about marketing and launches. Then a few months later… The guy wrote a freaking book.WTF… I texted him....

It’s 3 AM. I’m wide awake.I’m touched by infinite intelligence. Ideas pour into your mind like a bright beam from heaven. I grabbed my phone and typed notes in the dark. Afraid I'd lose the magic if I turned on a light. By morning, I had 17 scattered bullet points that made zero sense. What seemed brilliant at 3 AM looked like complete garbage in daylight.A new note on top of the 327 half ass ideas. Sound familiar? Here's the painful truth: You don't have an idea problem. You have an...

Let’s fly to Ibiza. We bring a camera crew. We hire a big ass villa and a catamaran. The production value will be wild. When our clients see this, they throw money at us. This was one of the most embarrassing moments in my launch history. The product was called the Freedom Academy. We lost $20K shooting this thing. The result: $1200 in sales. They say pain is the best teacher.Well, this failed project taught me a lot about how not to launch things.Ever heard of product-market fit? The first time I...
